Atilio Bertagni was born in Buenos Aires , Argentina , in 1950.

He was very young when he took his first steps in music, starting with his native folklore and, through his mother's influence, also with zarzuela (from Spain ).

As a teenager he formed several pop bands. Later, he was part of “Los Duques del Swing” (The Dukes of Swing), a jazz band. Going back to his roots, he joined a singing folk group, with which he was awarded First Prize in the “Festival de la Tradición ”, in Bragado and Merlo ( province of Buenos Aires ), and Third Prize in Ayacucho ( province of Buenos Aires ). He made his first recording with this group, “Quimey suyai” (“Welcome Hope” in the Mapuche language).
With this interesting background he's come to the present time, when tango is knocking at his door.

He made artistic tours in Spain, Warsaw (Poland) and Czechoslovakia, he was part of the cast of “Vamos Tango” and performed with great success in prestigious places such as Teatro de la Cooperación , Museo del Tango, La casa del Poeta, Teatro Municipal de Morón, El Vesubio, El Estaño 1880, Bar Dante, Bar Quintino, Conventillo Magallanes en La Boca , Salón Blanco de la Casa de Gobierno, El Morocho del Arrabal, Bien Porteño, and Teatro Variedades, in Corrientes Avenue.

He recorded his first tango CD, “Tangos para un semejante” (“Tangos for a fellow being”) in 2004, and the second, “Tangos para una tarde cualquiera” (“Tangos for any evening”) came out in 2006 and in 2008 his third CD, “Tangos de boca en boca” (“Tangos by Word of Mouth”) . At the present time he's launching his third CD, “Pariendo tangos”
